Visual effects degree or networking degree?

I have been drawing since i was a kid of course lol but it was a real pion then it grew to motion picture screenplays, djing, producing anything with art but i could imagine myself doing visual effects and motion picture..It's just in a field i can adapt to but i guess im scared if i will be good in it. with computers i always had fun when i was y ounger putting stuff together. i have a little experience in the field of networking but im not really sure. my friend says do what i am good at and all of them chimed in computers but with the outsourcing not sure if id get a decent paying one. Atleast with Visual effects id love what i was doing but at the same time i wouldnt be able to get money or job prospects arent high with that degree plus im in midwest now. help!
