Will Jesus not appear to anyone on Earth until His second coming?

I know that Jesus appeared to HUNDREDS of people after he had resurrected, but he won't appear to anyone now, even if we pray for Him to come, but is that because he told us that he will not appear on the Earth again until His second coming? Are there Bible verses that say that?
