Am i wrong about the Wii?

Alright here is the deal. i am having some doubts on whether or not to buy the Wii system. When it came out i umed it to be a more kid friendly system. like all the backyard sports games and even madden looked childish. what i want to know is, doest it have any "darker" games, such as the resident evil franchise. is that still in tact or is it childish. the main reason i am asking is i want the new zelda game, yes i am a zelda fan and i like the series. Overall is it worth it to buy the system for this game and could i still play the "darker" games? also are there any system defects like the Xbox 360 RROD?
