Repair or Trade-when to quit?

I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4-its been a nightmare and now the water pump is shot, do I spend $900 or so to repair it for a trade or do I trade it as is. I hate to throw good money after bad. In other words are repair dollars money well spent?
