Did you know it's illegal to film the police from your garden in the UK?

Yesterday morning I was filming from my doorstep around my road and a police officer was in the area and spotted me filming, he told my to put the camera down and that I'm not allowed to film him, I put the camera down to avoid arrest or trouble. Has anybody else had a similar experience?
